Week 14

Well hello family!!!! :) Sorry to disappoint but you won't be getting a long e-mail from me til tomorrow so get excited! I get to tell you all about R’s baptism and how I've been getting morning sickness :) talk to you tomorrow!!! :D love you!
love always
sister wilkins :)

-----------

Is the suspense killing you??? :) I feel I have so much power right now.... :)

-----------

Well hello my wonderful family!!! :) Well I guess I should tell you about transfers since it's probably driving you crazy! And dad said he would fly up here and whoop me :D You obviously don't understand mission lingo as much because morning sickness obviously equals having a baby! Yep...that's right! Your baby is having a baby ;) hahahahaha! I am going to pick up my new companion in about 3 hours who has come fresh from the MTC! aka I am TRAINING in STEILACOOM!!!! Holy cow...haha! On Wednesday we had interviews with president and he said to me "well you're the first to know (cuz I was the first interview) that there are 21 sisters coming in on Tuesday" then he looks me in the eye, puts his hand on my shoulder and says are you ready?" Well I knew after that that I was going to be training! I also knew some of Sister Hall's call :) Sister Hall is going to Chambers Creek with a sister named Sister Packard (she's super cute and came out in the same group as Sister Hall) and I'm getting a sister! Aka Sister Hall and Sister Packard are training also! (3 some) And Sister Hall and Packard are the very first Sister Trainer Leaders in the WA-TAC! I'm going to miss her so much :( but I can still call her and I will see her quite a bit still! So that's good :) STL's (sister trainer leaders) go on exchanges and do surprise studies so she could come and do that in our area :) But Holy Cow!!! I'm training! It’s a very humbling call...and I have been praying like crazy that the Lord will prepare me! I feel like He has been doing that all week! I know I can do it!!! :) I know the Lord will sustain me and that he knows what I need. I'm so excited!!!! Man...are you taking this in? I'm gonna be a mom! That’s a pretty big responsibility :) haha I still feel like a baby in the mission! But God trusts me and knows I know enough so I can do it :) haha I'm pretty much still in shock myself... :) But I couldn't be more excited!!! Lets get this show on the road!!! :)
So on another note this week on Tuesday we went and said bye to the P family (11 from heaven). (Sister Hall was pretty sure she was leaving) and we had chili and carrot cake! It was yummy! Then we went on a walk and it was so much fun! I love that family so much! I hope one day the seeds we planted will grow. But that was pretty much the final goodbye... I know that we made an impact on each others lives :) Oh man on Tuesday night we ran into this lady knocking, her name is B., and she told us she had been praying and waiting for us to come and asked if we could do her dishes. So we told her we would come back after knocking. So we go back at 7...and HO-LY COW that house was a mess!!! We spent an hour and a half cleaning up the kitchen and it's still dirty..bless her heart the poor lady just can't clean her house.. It was sad. I'm just gonna say I'm grateful for a clean house growing up :) but she's such a special lady! We’re gonna go back and teach her this week hopefully :) so onto papa R’s baptism!!! Oh my goodness it was amazing! So it was on Sunday at 7 and it was so spiritual. He came to church that morning and all 3 of us (R. Sis Hall and I) were crying through all of church (half because Sister Hall is leaving and half because it was so spiritual!!! They had Sister Hall bear her testimony in sacrament and it was like someone turned on the faucet for everyone in the room) haha then Sister Hall and I taught Sunday School on faith and miracles and cried...so it was an awesome church day! Man the spirit was so strong! At the baptism Sister Hall gave the talk and I gave the missionary message and there wasn't a dry eye in the room. Then papa R. got baptized!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ah! I was so happy for him! So while he was getting dressed I was giving the missionary message and he came out while I was still talking and comes up behind me and slammed a bunch of tissues down on the pulpit. Haha! He knows me too well :) then he got up and bore his testimony. It was so powerful and sweet! ah! My heart just melted! He said "I'm gonna make Heavenly Father proud!" awh man...bless his heart! I love that man!!! :) haha it was SO amazing!!! :) Also in his testimony he said that when he was driving home from church amazing grace popped in his head (of course my favorite song) and he said if he had one wish he would poof the MOTAB choir there to sing it. So after he sat down 2 of our ward members (Brooke the bishop's daughter/my best friend besides Sister Hall :) and Tati one of the islanders) looked the words up on their phone (thank goodness for technology) and sang amazing grace!!! OH.MY. GOODNESS. the spirit was SO strong!!! I’m surprised there wasn't a pool of tears on the floor afterwards. Man it was so amazing! There was about 30- 40 members there to support him! it was so sweet because Papa R. really needs support, and they all came up and gave him a hug afterwards! (I’m in the huggiest ward ever :) ) He really appreciated it! Man...I LOVE being a missionary!!! Every single door slammed in my face was worth that moment. :) After the baptism we went to bishops house and it was a great end to the day his daughter Brooke (my BFF) goes to BYU-I and left this morning so we were saying hi/bye to her and Sister Hall told her air plane story and had the whole family rolling on the floor laughing. Ah! I love my life! :) Those moments are so fun :)
Sister Hall has given me a lot of advice this week, and the #1 thing she has said is "just have a heart full of love, and God will take care of the rest." And it's really true...when you have a heart full of love everything falls into place. I'm still working on it, nobody's perfect. But I know as long as I can keep a heart full of love this transfer will be the most amazing and growing time of my life. I'm so excited for things to come! It is going to be amazing! Anyways I will try to write you a letter soon and tell you how great training is going! until then keep a heart full of love and God will take care of the rest!!! I LOVE YOU!!!!! :D
Love always Sister Wilkins :)

P.S. tell people to send me letters I got 2 last Monday and 0 since then I'm feelin like an orphan child ;) haha <3 although I realize it's mostly due to transfers and everyone getting married :)

Weeks 11, 12, AND 13

I'm soooo sorry for those that follow and want to know how Brittany is doing.  We've had a crazy/stressful past several weeks at our house and I fell WAY behind!! I'm so very sorry!  So lets play catch up and here are Brittany's last 3 letters!  Keep on writing her!!

Week 11

Well it's been another crazy week! and here we are again! :)
I think its super hilarious that you had fajita's in honor of me :) I feel special :D haha! but my birthday was SUPER GREAT!!! :) But we'll get to that :) So on Tuesday we had the opportunity to go to the temple and do a session. It was AMAZING!!! It was so cool because the whole room was filled with missionaries! We met at a church near by and sang a song and had a little opening devotional to help us bring in the spirit. When we walked into the temple you could feel the most amazing spirit ever! :) After we all got dressed we met in a chapel in the temple and President and Sister Weaver bore their testimonies. I was bawling (of course). They are such wonderful people! And President said lots of things that I really needed to hear! What a wonderful man he is! I loved being in the temple! I learned so many new things and received so much personal revelation that I really needed. The temple is truly a place where you can be so close to God. In the Celestial room it was so peaceful. The peaceful feelings in that room were more overwhelming than any other feeling on my mission. I felt home sick for Heaven! And looking out at so many wonderful missionaries trying their hardest to follow Christ I was truly inspired :) Afterwards we went back to the chapel and President and Sister Weaver gave a devotional. Elder Jefferey R Holland came to a Mission President training meeting here in WA and sat right next to President Weaver! He said a lot of very wonderful things. Sister Weaver made a comment that she felt like she was in the room with a true representative on Jesus Christ. And Sister Hall and I were talking about how that is what we should be striving towards. Being a true representative, so much that people can feel it when you enter the room. I have learned a lot about Christ-like attributes this week and I am working so hard to be better at them! :) I had a really great experience this week. On Monday J. called us and was drunk and crying because he didn't feel good enough, he felt like he couldn't be a better person. I have thought a lot about that this week. We often put ourselves down because we think that we aren't good enough. That we can't change. WE ARE STUBBORN!!!! On Saturday night we went and visited another investigator M. She has a lot going on in her life and doesn't "have time" to make Heavenly Father a priority in her life. All 3 of us were crying on her doorstep because she knows she needs to give her life to follow Christ. But humans are stubborn!  I learned 2 important lessons from these experiences,.. #1 was Charity. The pure love of Christ. I felt for these people! I cried for them! I received a taste of the love that their Father in Heaven had for them. Because I can see their potential. I know that they are good enough and that if they made time to make God a priority their life would be SO much better and they would be worthy to receive eternal life. It made me think of how much I need to work on myself as well. As humans we view ourselves as weak, and not good enough. That's because we are weak! And we aren't good enough! That's what Heavenly Father sent His only begotten Son! To make it so THROUGH Him we can be made strong, and we can be good enough to enter into the presence of our Heavenly Father. Man I have learned and grown SO much this week, it would take days to tell you about it :) But I am doing so good! :) I love being a missionary!!! On a side note my shoulder is feeling MUCH better! :) YAY!!! and on another side note I can skype or call on mothers day! I already have it set up to go to the bishop's at 4pm (MY TIME) and skype ya'll! :D YAY!!!! I am so excited!!! :) So ya'll better be there when I call or there will be trouble! ;) I got the shoes!!! Thank you very much! They were much needed! :) I did not however get the other stuff so I am going to the mission office after lunch to get it! I'm so excited! Now for my birthday! It was so good!! It was really weird not to be home but it was a cool humbling experience. I was thinking all day about how 21 years ago I left my Heavenly Father to receive a body and do my best to return to him! And man am I trying! It's crazy to think about how much I've grown in the past year! I still remember what we did last year on my birthday! :) But I woke up and Sister Hall wrote me a card and wrote happy birthday on the mirror! She tried so hard to make it a good day for me! Bless her heart! I love her so much! :) We went to church and we had Chris and his family there (this is the guy that sister hall called a pain in the butt child of God. He's getting baptized on the 18th! haha! ) And everyone was so nice to me! I was showered with love and chocolate :P haha! Then we had dinner at the Stower's house. They are Samoan I dunno how to spell it don't judge me. But I had to eat RAW FISH!!! YUCKY!!!! Truthfully it wasn't that bad but I still gagged a little bit :P we also had chicken and steak and rice and such :) and the Jolley's from our ward came too and they made me a cake! I sent mom a picture of it :D It was yummy! The rest of the day we tracted :D yay...haha! It was fun because Sister Hall has lots of good stories about EVERYTHING. So it was so fun! We have fun while knocking doors! :) Over all my birthday was so great!!! It was weird because normally you just think about yourself all day, but I had the opportunity to serve and love others. It was AWESOME!!! Then at 7 we went to Bishops house and his wife made me a rainbow chip cake!!!! Man I felt a little piece of home! I love my rainbow chip!!! haha and they got me a present! My bishop and his family are probably my favorite people :) They are so wonderful! :) Mom- I got your pictures and letter! Thank you! I also got a card from Grandma with some pictures and a package from aunt Lori with all sorts of goodies in it and a package from Sister O'Connor! :) It was a really good day :) I have thought a ton about Kiersten this week and I'm glad you got to go to the reception! I hope you gave her a great big hug for me! I am sad I missed it, but Steilacoom is where I need to be! :) Anyways to end this I just wanted to tell you how much I love and miss you! I am so grateful for your love a support! It means so much that you are thinking about me and praying for me! I do the same for you! You all mean the world to me and I couldn't ever think of a better family to have! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!! :) Can't wait to talk to you next week! Love you!

Sister Brittany Ann Wilkins
P.s. I'm 21 now...who feels old? ;)

Week 12

Hello! it's been forever since I’ve talked to all ya'll ;) haha like a whole day!!!! :P Anywho It was so wonderful to be able to talk to all of you! I miss you dearly and was so happy to see your bright smiley faces!!! :) It made my whole day! I'm sorry you couldn't hear me very well :/ But it was still fun to see all of you :) I told you about our miracle yesterday with our fast and find :) We decided our investigators were being punks so we went finding until we found an elect and we found S.! Who has read the BOM and believes it's true! So that was pretty cool! I also told you I went on a split with Sister Olson from Arizona. She is a greenie so I was able to take charge, It helped me a lot because I didn't have Sister Hall to fall back on! :) haha! I am glad you got to meet Sister Hall!!! :) I just love her to death! I gave her a mothers day card too since she's my "mom" :) haha it was pretty epic! This week wasn't too eventful...on Thursday we went over to Anderson Island as always and I worked on my penguin :) (almost done!) and we also started teaching an investigator! Her name is also S.! She's pretty open minded :) So it was a good lesson. She will most likely be baptized. Then we went to catch the ferry and realized Sister Hall had forgotten the car keys! woops! So we found them back at S’s house but missed the ferry! :/ but Sister Weinrick took us down to the marina for an hour and we played on the beach and I found some clam shells and I also found a dead crab! I named it Alfred. I have pictures that I will send! :) Other than that we've just been doing finding and visiting people! It's been pretty uneventful. But there are miracles in every day! I have learned a lot about the tender mercies of the Lord! Mom I think you're right about the Lord knowing I need Sister Hall! haha I needed someone who was weird, fun, bold, loving and everything she is! I can't even tell you how grateful I am for her and her example! She's a lot of the reason why I have learned and grown so much! She makes sure we're always working hard! We hold each other to high expectations and it's good because we are always expecting each other to grow! She says that all of you are "so cute!" hahaha! Oh you guys should put the pictures I send you on my blog :D I'm not sure if you're putting them on FB but you should put them on the blog too! :) I just can't even explain how much I have loved being a missionary!!! It’s literally the best thing in the whole world!!! and I wouldn't trade anything for this time in my life. I have only been out 2 & 1/2 months and I feel like I've changed so much!!!! CRAZY!!! :) I hope you all know how much I love you! It makes me happy to hear everything that's going on back home! It was really weird to see the house...haha I feel like I was there just yesterday except Kyson looks bigger!!! haha fun stuff. This week I learned about Humility. In the words of Sister Hall "Humility is the art of giving the glory to God and not yourself" she's definitely an english major,,,haha! but it's true! In order for us to be humble we have to realize that without God we are nothing. Yesterday we met this guy who had been through many wars and it affected his life negatively. He was crying so hard because he believes that there is no God. He was also drunk but, the gospel of Christ gives us the chance to receive blessings and be happy! We need to know that because we are nothing Christ suffered for our weaknesses so that we wouldn't have to feel like nothing :) It's a hard balance. But humility is so important! Oh also I have learned how important it is to make God a priority in your life. I see people who are struggling and they don't understand why. But I can see that if they would just make God a priority their life would be so much easier! If we are able to see our lives through God's eyes, that's when we will be most successful. Well I'm on a time crunch because we are doing firesides in the mission and they want me to sing a part so I’ve gotta go to the church! I hope all of you have an amazingly wonderful week! I love you all so much!!! :)
Love
Sister Wilkins :)

Side Note: We are working on getting more pictures onto Britt's blog. She sends us hard copies so we need to scan them in, but we're hoping to get some more on here soon!

Week 13

Well Family another week has gone by, and here I am! :) I bet Mondays are your favorite days now! ;) Most people hate Mondays but they're your favorite now huh? :) Well I feel like it's been forever since I talked to you...but it was such a wonderful booster! :) I have lots of pictures to send you all but I never got around to writing any letters... woops :) so I will send them this week sometime :) also I am in a letter drought and it's kind of sad...haha! I think the last letter I got was on Tuesday :P but it's all good because it's been a busy week! We've been working so hard! Last Monday I told you about how I was going to a fireside practice right? well I did and I got assigned to sing alto in a group. There’s 2 alto's 3 soprano's 3 bass and 2 tenors. and we sang "Jesus, Savior Pilot Me" it's awesome but we'll get back to that later :) but after the practice we went to Menchies this frozen yogurt place that's so much like the ones we used to go to all the time! It was SO good! It was funny because there was like 50-60 missionaries in this tiny yogurt place and sister weaver paid for us all! Man this is the life ;) haha! It was way fun! I LOVE getting together with all the missionaries! It's so much fun! :) On Tuesday we taught this guy named L., we found him last Sunday and he invited us to come back. So we taught him about the restoration, and the spirit was SO strong! And we put him on date for the 25th! It was cool because we asked him to say the prayer at the end and he said it in Micronesian (that's where he's from) it's funny because this ward is PERFECT for him! We have so many islanders! haha :) One of the highlights of my week was Wednesday. Remember Papa R.? Well we taught him on Friday last week and he had all sorts of deep doctrine questions and was in such turmoil. So the guy we had to fellowship with us suggested a priesthood blessing. So R. comes to the church and Brother Bishop (the fellowship) and Brother Gamez (the 2nd counselor in the bishopric) gave him a blessing. Brother Gamez did the blessing and it was amazing!!! He’d just barely met R. like 5 minutes prior and he touched on every aspect of his life that he was struggling with! The spirit was so strong! After the blessing sister Hall asked him what questions he had and he said "nothing, I’m ready" HE KNOWS IT"S TRUE!!!!! ahahahahhahahahah sister hall and I burst into tears of joy! (we're girls don't judge us, and we LOVE papa R. :D ) man, that was a great moment! To see him realize that this church is true. AH!!! I LOVE it!! :) That’s one of the greatest things to see as a missionary! :) He's getting baptized next Sunday!!!!! (26th) :D yay! :) That was a great day :) On Thursday it was park day! :P *bleh* so we walked down to the ferry in the morning and went over to Anderson Island! We taught J. and S.! I dunno if I told you about her but J. is the ex-member coming back and S. is our new investigator on AI :) they were way awesome lessons! That night we went tracting and we walked from Lakewood to the other side of Steilacoom for a lesson! Man! I'm losing weight! woo!! :) It was fun :D Oh man....Transfer call this Saturday! Keep me in your prayers :D haha It's always super nerve-wracking cuz it the unknown!!! you know how much I hate surprises! but sister hall and I during comp inventory on Friday just cried our little eyes out because we've grown to love each other so much!!! (but i cry every comp inventory, it's genetic, don't judge me :) I just have so much love for sister hall!) :D that night during tracting we knocked on 6 doors in 2 hours!! crazy! haha we talked to this one lady named J. for about an hour! We taught her the restoration. haha! Then we talked to 2 other people for way long periods of time but hey we got 2 new investigators!!! I thought that was pretty crazy :) oh on Saturday the B’s (less actives in our ward) took us to 5 guys! YUM! :)  So back to my singing thing :) On Sunday night Sister Hall got to come with me up to Bremerton so I could sing in my little group! It was so amazing! ok so first of all there were about 100 missionaries and about 500 people! So we sang as follows
1. Called to Serve (all missionaries)
2. Battle Hymn of the Republic (all missionaries)
3. Jesus Savior Pilot Me (just my group)
4. His Son / I Stand All Amazed (all missionaries)
5. Amazing Grace (all missionaries)
There was also a group of 8 sisters that sang I feel my saviors love and 8 elders sang more holiness give me. There were also missionaries and recent converts and president and sister weaver who bore their testimony!!! and man! it was amazing!!!! :) The spirit was amazing! I’m pretty sure all 500 of the people in the chapel were crying and all 100 missionaries too! :) hahaha! It was so wonderful! the spiritual pump up I needed!!! :) I was afraid to sing the alto part with 1 other girl but it went good! :) haha and they recorded it! so it might be on the blog soon :)I know there will be pictures of all of us! :) so yes this week was amazing!!! :) Now I wanna talk about making God a priority in your life. I might have talked about this before but I will talk about it again :) haha I see so many people put here that won't accept the gospel because they're either too lazy or too busy. It's so frustrating because as a missionary I know that if they would make God a priority their lives would be so much easier!! :) Then I thought about how I make God a priority in my life. From God's perspective, am I making excuses to not read my scriptures for 10 minutes a day? Am I saying my prayers sincerely or just rushing through them because I want to go to sleep? What am I putting above God? When we put God first He will take care of us. But so often as humans we are too lazy to pray or too busy to STUDY our scriptures (p.s. that BOM made easier is genius!!! I LOVE IT!) So I made a goal to make sure I have enough faith to hand over the life that I’m living and let Him mold me into all that I’m supposed to be. and of course we will never be perfect at it. But when we try it is good enough. There is nothing more important in this life than becoming Christ-like so that we can return to live with our Heavenly Father. That's what this life is for anyways! :) So for 10 minutes a day, study your scriptures, ponder them and search them. Say prayers that are sincere. And remember to make God a priority! :) I know that Jesus Christ lives. That He suffered for my weaknesses and mistakes and pains and trials so that through Him I could be made perfect. I want to strive every day to be a "celestial being" when we have the Holy Ghost with us we will not desire to do wrong. Remember you have the gift of the Holy Ghost to guide you always but it will only be there if you receive it. I have learned so much about families and the eternities and all I gotta say is we better all be there! :) Ya that could be a threat ;) haha anyways, I have to put something about Sister Hall in here! Cuz I just love her!!! :) I think she's the best missionary ever in the WA-TAC! :) and the best companion ever! :) God knew I needed her badly :) haha I look up to her A TON. She has helped me become a much better person and a much better missionary! :) I just have to tell you these things cuz she gets sick of me telling them to her ;) haha! Anyways I love you SO MUCH!!!! and I hope you have the most amazing week ever! :) Keep your head up and make God a priority and He will carry you through your trials! :) I have a testimony of this gospel and church. It's true and the fullness is here today to help us return to our Heavenly Father. I pray that I may always remember that. I know God lives, that Jesus Christ is my Savior. I love them so much and I love yooouuuuu!!!!!!!!! :)

Write her lots of letters!! She loves getting them and they brighten her days so much!! Thank you to those of you that have taken the time to write her.  She loves every-single-letter!!!

Week 9

Hello all!!! :) Another long week has gone by and I feel like it's been forever since I’ve talked to all of you! I've only gotten 3 letters this week and they were from sis O’Connor haha which I’m not complaining cuz I just sent out a bunch of letters last Tuesday, it just feels like forever!!! :) This week has been so awesome! I am still LOVING everything about my mission :) I am breaking this e-mail up into sub-categories
First we will talk about transfer meeting:
TRANSFER MEETING!!!! It was awesome! I got to see my whole district from the MTC and I have missed them so much! The girls and I used to sing every day and now I just have to sing by myself :) haha Sister Hall doesn't like singing with me :P and the elders are such studs!!! I have like 8 little brothers that I just love to death!!! :) It was so good to see them and it reminded me of how much fun I had in the MTC and also the things that I learned!! I loved it!!! I talked to a bunch of the missionaries! It's so fun to get together with everyone! :) We sang "amazing grace" which is my favorite song that we sing! It’s amazingly powerful and spiritual when a whole bunch of missionaries get together and sing!!! Ah! I love it! Starting this month we get to do some firesides!!! YAY! I love it :) this is some of the reason why I got sent to this mission cuz I love to sing!!! :) It was sad to see the missionaries leaving, one of them was an elder in my district Elder Cox! He’s pretty cool, we became pretty good friends :) I always LOVE see president and sister weaver!!! I just love them to death!!! They have such a light in their eyes and they're so loving and supportive! I love it! President came up to me and Sister Hall afterwards and said he had us split up at one time then he put us back together! I told him it was a good thing because I don't know what I would do without Sister Hall! haha so yes I know I am exactly where I need to be! AND I LOVE IT!!! :) Did you know that in July there will only be 6 missionaries out longer than 4 transfers in my mission? AKA next transfer I will most likely be training. PRAY FOR ME! haha :)
Elders In Steilacoom
We now have elders in our area as well!!! :) Elder Torres and Hamblin! Torres has been out about 6 months and Hamblin is a Greenie fresh from the MTC! :) They tract pretty much all day because they are starting from ground Zero! They’re good missionaries though! I know MIRACLES are going to happen in Steilacoom with 2 sets of missionaries! They are bike elders too! I feel so bad for them but we can't give them rides anywhere :P
Sister Hall
Sister Hall has become one of my dearest friends! It should be that way when you spend 24/7 with someone for 7 weeks straight!! :) haha but I just love her! She's an amazing missionary and I look up to her so much! She is hilarious too! She told me "the world should know the weird crap that comes out of my mouth" so I'm telling the world! haha we had a lot of fun this week and have grown even closer :) I came up with a list of random questions since I already knew all the basic things about her and it was really fun to get to know her even more! she has some pretty crazy and funny stories! I love it! I have laughed so much this week :) Funny story...about 3 days ago we were tracting on 107th st sw to be exact :) and this guy opens his door and starts yelling at us because he has a no soliciting sign on his door and Sister Hall goes "we're not selling anything" and the man says "you're selling your religion!" and Sister Hall said "no we're not we are inviting" and the man says "well I don't want to be invited that's why I put the sign up" and Sister Hall says "well maybe next time if there's a no inviting sign we won't come!" and the man slammed his door! My heart dropped at first at her boldness haha but then I laughed for like 10 minutes straight. I thought it was pretty clever! But yes I LOVE Sister Hall! She knows exactly what I need to be a better missionary! It great!!! :)
J.
J. is one of our investigators! He's in his 60's! How we met him was pretty cool, I think I already told you about it but I’ll tell you again :) We were driving to a potentials house and all the sudden Sister Hall stops the car and this guy (J.) literally walks towards our car! So we roll down the window and start talking to him. We find that he has just gotten a divorce and has a lot of sorrow and hard times in his life! So we got his information and started teaching him! Well J. got addicted to drugs when he was 12, he stopped in his early 20's but he also got addicted to smoking and drinking. He also drinks coffee. Man, if there is one thing that's hard to let go of its addictions. But! J. is so great and he knows that this is where he needs to be! So he committed to stop :) So Saturday night we go over to his house and watch his pour ALL of his alcohol down the sink and he got rid of all his "smokes"!!! We were SO proud of him!!! We just called him and he still hasn't drank or smoked but he drank a cup of coffee. But he's doing so good! I can't even believe what I have seen the Atonement of Christ do for people! It changes people's entire lives! And it's so amazing! AH! I love it!!!! :) I'm such a proud missionary :D because he relies on his Heavenly Father to help him get rid of his pain and sorrow! And that's all you can do in this life! He loved the plan of salvation, because it's the "why" of the way we live. We live righteously because we want to receive Celestial glory! :) he loved it! :)
Papa R.
Oh papa R.!!! :) I just love him! :) haha papa R. is 71 and he is a manager of a company that cleans military clothes...or something haha :) but he's pretty busy! I know I’ve told you about him before but he is so great! He still doesn't have a baptismal date but he is progressing towards one, he just wants to make sure he's committed which is very admirable. I know that when R. gets baptized he will be in it for the long haul! Which is the greatest thing you can know as a missionary! :) I just love papa R! :)
M./D.
M. and D. are doing pretty good! :) We went over to their house for dinner on Thursday and M. cooked the biggest roast I’ve ever seen in my life!!! It was sooooo good! He’s such a good cook I love it!!! But he told me that he thinks I was a skater chick in HS! Everyone makes fun of me for it now :P and sister hall thinks I’m like Chukie off Rugrats cuz I’m paranoid :) IT FINE!!!  :) I'm just safe :) haha
I have grown in my love for people even more in the past week! I just LOVE these people! And that's what missionary work is all about, love. Because I love them I can rely on my Heavenly Father to work through me to help them :) And I can know through the spirit what they need :) It's so cool. I love being a missionary!!! :) Like I said this week has been so great! and i can't even wait for next week! :) I'm ready! haha I hope all of you are doing well! :) I love you and pray for you all the time!!! :) Remember "Faith in God includes faith in His timing" that was my motto yesterday :) because we had ZERO investigators come to church yesterday, which made like 6 of them fall off date for baptism. It was lame, but I trust God has a plan for them :) haha I know this gospel is true, I love the Book of Mormon, I love preach my gospel! I think all of you should read it! :) I LOVE YOU!!! and miss you :)
Love always

P.s. I’m gonna be 21 in 2 weeks!!!!!! crazier things have happened....but I think it's pretty crazy...! :)

Week 10

Well hello again family!! :)
Well this week has been...interesting to say the least! Honestly I don't really remember much about it because I've been on pain pills since Tuesday! :P Yes I hurt my shoulder AGAIN! Playing basketball and working out...Probably dislocated my shoulder blade again! It’s pretty painful but I didn't even have to pay to go to the doctor because my bishop (bishop Mortensen) is the best ever and he is a doctor! :) haha so he checked it out and put me on some tramidol or something like that for the pain and then I take some vikiden at night to sleep :P my stake president is also a surgeon so he checked it out and said to put it in a sling but not all day and ice it and rest it and he's going to check it again in a week :) Prayers sent my way would be nice! :) At first it was really hard for me to want to get up and go out because the medicine makes me tired and I have been in a lot of pain. It was hard to focus on the work and not on myself. But I have an amazing companion who doesn't allow me to be a baby! :) I have been so humbled and grown so much this week! I have been able to do everything I’m supposed to and work through the pain! I have learned how to rely on the Lord more and how to forget myself even when it's extremely hard! Sister Hall pushes me and stretches me to be my best and doesn't let me be a slacker ;) haha I love her so much! She is such an amazing example to me! We have become best friends!!! :D I got a blessing from the Elders last night (Torres and Hamblin) and it was exactly what I needed! I am just truckin along! Doing alright! Don't worry about me though! I'm doing great!!! :) So funny story...last night we went to a potentials house and knocked on the door and her husband whom we haven't met yet answered so we started talking to him and he was being super prideful and saying how he didn't wanna go to church cuz he didn't want to have to dress up and he wasn't willing to do what God wants him to do! so Sister Hall tells him he's being prideful! haha and then we talked to him about church and he was just denying it and such and Sister Hall says ok if you ask your child to do something and he doesn't do it because he doesn't want to you're gonna think he's being a pain in the butt! and then she says "you are being such a pain in the butt child of God right now!!!" hahha! I just busted out laughing! it was hilarious :) We're going back on Friday to teach him the plan of salvation :) hahaha! Oh Sister Hall and her boldness :) I love it! So Sister Hall has a story about everything. I give her any topic and she has a story about it from her life! so i was trying to find something that she didn't have a story about! And the only thing i've found so far was a chimney! so 2 nights ago while sister hall was saying mighty prayer (our companion prayer at the end of the day) or fire place makes a HUGE boom noise! it scared both of us half to death! so now she has a story about a chimney! haha I am so gonna miss her stories when one of us gets transferred :/ IT HAS BEEN SO BRIGHT AND SUNNY!!! I love the sunny days here because every sunny day counts! And it's warm and so nice to be outside! I love it! So this week Janice Kapp Perry came to our ward! she did a fireside on Friday that we got to go to and it was SO good! we all sang a medley of her primary songs and her and her husband spoke and at the end we sang As Sisters in Zion and Army of Heleman together (boys and girls like a medley) IT was SO spiritual! I loved it! Her and her family also wrote a family song! Look it up! It’s adorable and I decided when I get home we are writing a family song!!! :) Sister Hall and I have decided to go on a cave man diet! no dairy or grain! It's gonna be interesting :) I have a health nut of a companion :) she makes me do stuff like this all the time! And she makes me wake up at 6 to watch her work out since I can't do anything cuz of my shoulder! So we go down to the gym at the church and I lay on the stage with my pillow and blanket and she works out with the 2 other girls in our district Sister Langi and Sister Peruch! They’re way fun! It’s awesome to have girls in our district! We didn't have any other girls in our zone last transfer! It was sad! haha but anyways TOMORROW! is going to be amazing! guess why?!! WE'RE GOING TO THE TEMPLE!!! awh yea :) I'm so excited! this is our once a year temple trip! I have missed the temple so much! I'm excited to go!!! We've been talking a ton about temple work in our stake lately and I just wanna go! But I’m doing work for the living :) SO my challenge to all of you is to go and do work for the dead!! go to the temple! At least once a month! And do the work for those in spirit prison just waiting to be baptized and receive and make those eternal covenants with God! What a wonderful way we can build God's kingdom on the earth! and what a wonderful place to be! I promise if you will go to the temple you will have a greater peace in your life than you do now :) A scripture that I read during personal study this week really hit me and I have shared it with all of my investigators this week :) it's 1 Corinthians 10:13! Read it! :) I hope all of you are doing good! I know that life is hard, but God will provide a way for you to get through it. Life is but a small moment and it's meant to be enjoyed! Alma 36:27 (I think that's what it is) Is a really good scripture about trials :) Sometimes in life we go through trials and we don't always get what we want and we get into a funk where we just wanna be unhappy for some strange reason...but then we are humbled and decide that maybe we should turn to God and that's when we can receive blessings! If we are following God's commandments He HAS to bless us! He is bound when we do what He says. (D&C 82:10) and if we do what He says and follow Jesus Christ although we will still go through hard times we will be able to withstand the storms because God will lift us up and shower us with blessings! Yay! :) well this next week is going to be wonderful! Jessica-I hope you had an amazing birthday! I was going to write you a letter this week but it didn't happen..I suck :/ But I’m going to write you an e-mail after this :D Kiersten is getting married on Saturday! Don’t forget! Because you have to send me pictures and give her a HUGE hug from me! :) and tell her I LOVE HER SO MUCH!!! and I'm turning 21! I feel old...haha! I am so excited! I love being a missionary so much! and I am so grateful for how much I have learned and grown! I hope all of you are doing the same and exercising your faith! :) I love you all so very much!!! have a wonderful week and remember you are wonderful children of a loving Heavenly Father! :) Love you!
Love Always
