Well
Hello Family!
This letter is going
to have to be short because we have some appointments :)
My stomach feels as if
an alien is about to burst out of it! I'm a so nervous because I found out
YESTERDAY that Sister Packard, Sister Esplin and I are going to sing in
transfer meeting TODAY! :) That's in front of about 300 or so people and that
is SCARY! haha So I am a little fidgety I guess you could say :)
So the subject of my
email is very fitting, Saturday (which was the greatest day ever) was transfer
call day and I was laughing at everyone cuz they were all nervous about calls
and such and I was like "haha I already know mine!!" and all chill
and such and then at 10:00 that night we got a transfer call and I am
going back to steilacoom!!!!! :) haha jk I wish though :) But the real story is
that I am going to be in a 3 some again...! woot.. :) haha I am being truthful
and will tell you that I do not like 3-somes because someone always feels left
out. But I am determined to make it not be so! :) So, Sister Chipman and I are
getting Sister Fabis :) I've talked about her before she was the sister I went
on my very first exchange with. She's from Spanish fork and she is just so
fragile. I talked to the office secretary Sister Jones about it and she said
that sister Fabis just needs some TLC.
Tuesday morning was so
sad :( I miss Sister Packard SO much. I realize we can't be companions forever,
but I wish we could be! haha I haven't ever had a friend like her, we got super
close, and so it feels really weird to not have her around...but I’m not
wallowing in my own self-pity haha I'm still working hard! I just miss her like
crazy! So on Tuesday morning during study sister Packard and I just both cried.
Then we get ready and go to the mission office and we are there for a while and
then president is like ok get outta here! So we say goodbye and I started
crying again haha So he gave me a hug and said get to work! So I did. :)
Sister Chipman is
awesome though! She's from Alpine Utah! She graduated in 2011 so she knows all my
friends! (Chelsey, Rachael, Rachelle, Paige, Cambria, Cody, Dylan, Blake) It's
pretty weird :) haha she knows about like half of my life :) the Mormon world
is SO small :) haha But its fun! We have just been working hard together :)
she's a great teacher and we already work really well together :) Pretty much
in unity, you can always work on that but we do pretty good :) so that's always
good! It really helps when you can do things in unity...
Tuesday night was
pretty interesting...we went to the church to meet with our ward mission leader
and he never showed...so we left and I get a call from our investigator Felisha
and she wants us to come over. So we go over there and find out that her
husband got way mad and started packing up his stuff and baby Andre’s stuff and
then went and picked her up from work and got mad and threw her phone out of
the car and then proceeded to throw her out of the car and she killed her foot
pretty badly. And she was doing perfectly fine. IT was SO cool! :) It reminded
me of Mosiah 24 because she was going through a hard time but she prayed and
could bear her burdens with patience and with ease. She amazes me! :) She also
came to church on Sunday!!!! YAY!!! :) So that was awesome :) her and Andre are
doing better now, so that's good.:)
Wednesday was awesome nothing too
exciting happened then Thursday we had MLC and it was AMAZING! :) haha Elder Ballard
came and talked to the mission presidents and so we talked about what he talked
about which is how we can create a celestial culture in the mission and such
things. :) It was pretty funny president made fun of me a little :P He read
acts chapter 8 and read about Phillip. Phillip is having SO much success on his
mission and he is loving it and doing so good and then he gets a transfer call
:( haha so President says "and I'm not just reading this for you sister
Wilkins" haha oh man he's just the funniest man of my life :) I love
him! but it was an AMAZING meeting! I literally took 6 pages of notes :) haha
that'll tell you how awesome it was :) After MLC They took us to round table! It
was yummy! It’s kinda like pizza pie cafe but not as good :) haha but man I
just love this mission! It’s the greatest mission in the entire world!!!! :)
Then when we got home it was park day! And it was the coldest park day yet! I
froze my little face off! But it was awesome!!! :) We went over by a bunch of
apartment complexes and just knocked! And luckily we got a ride home and I have
pepper spray :D haha yes I am somewhat protected!! :) But it was a fun day and
we met some really cool people :)
On Friday we were
supposed to do exchanges but one of the sisters was sick :/ sad days! but it
turned out to be a really great day! We taught Michael Brandon! He's still on
track to be baptized. Not this weekend because he has to come to church again
so hopefully on the 23rd! That will be an amazing day because guess
what?!?!???!!!! ONE OF THE 12 IS COMING TO THE WA-TAC!!!! :) :D man I am SO
excited! They told us on Halloween and I forgot to tell you :) haha but we
don't know who yet but they will be here on the 23rd and will speak to US the
missionaries from 10-12! It is going to be amazing! I am PUMPED!!! :) See? Being
a missionary is literally the greatest thing ever! :)
haha anyways...we also
taught Travis Ellison :) he's still doing good and will hopefully get baptized
next week as well :) Then we had an appointment with someone we met on park day
named Hailey Davis. She's awesome! She’s 19 and married :) haha and her husband
is in the military. But we taught her the restoration and it was super
spiritual. She's pretty solid :) So that's good :) also Friday night at like 8:30 we
had like nothing to do...so I was like ok let’s go visit Jamie Compton this
girl we had knocked into my first transfer here and it never went anywhere so
we go there and find out that her boyfriend’s mom is a member and just got
there the day before and was trying to figure out where the church was! It was
crazy! :) haha God is mindful :) that's what I learned :)
Saturday Was AMAZING!
:) First of all we did weekly planning cuz we couldn't do it any other day haha
then we went to George’s baptism! It was awesome! He was SO happy! :) It was a
nice service and then he went and got baptized and afterwards he comes in
pumping his fist with the biggest smile on his face!!! It was the cutest thing
EVER!!! :) haha I love George so much! :) George sat down and said that he felt
"better than great!" The closing song was amazing grace and of
course we all cried. I went up to George afterward and he said with tears in
his eyes "I’ll cry when I get home" It was so precious! The fact that
he got baptized that day brought him such overwhelming joy! It was amazing!!!
:) Man, it's so cool that I get to have such amazing relationships with these
people! I am spoiled! I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY! There’s nothing better. :) It
was also good to be able to see Sister Packard again: D haha What am I saying
it was awesome!
haha so after the
baptism we went knocking on doors. Oh I forgot to start this story, so during
weekly planning this guy named Rodney called us. Sister Packard had found him
on an exchange so I had never met him. But he called and wanted to come to
church but he didn't know where it was. The sunset Elders were going to have a
baptism at 6 that night so I invited him to that and he said ok! So we got him
a ride and we got to go to the baptism! Which I was so happy about because it
was Victor's baptism! I think I told you about him! He's in the nursing home
that we go and sing at and the Sunset Elders have been teaching him for a long
while. And victor is the most PRECIOUS man I have ever met in my life! He is
just so sweet...I can't adequately tell you how much I adore this man. :) haha I
went and said Hi to him and asked him if he was ready to be baptized! And he
says "I am so ready to accept Jesus into my life and my heart"! awh!
Then we had a surprise and were told that me sister Chipman, Allred and Davis
were singing for victor's baptism :) haha so we sang I am a child of God and I
just couldn't help but smile at victor the whole time! Elder Poulson and Elder
Rich both baptized him because he is very old and fragile! But oh my goodness
it was the most precious thing of my life! I cried! haha :) afterwards I asked
Rodney how he felt and he said that he just felt like there was a lot of love
in the room :)
Then we went to Juan’s
house and Jon and Kyle and Juan’s daughter Kyle were all there and we had a
thanksgiving FEAST! I am not joking it was quite the feast and it was
delicious! I LOVE our recent converts so much! I can't even tell you! They are
amazing! :) I am running out of time since we have to go to an appointment but
I just want to tell you all that I know this church is 100% true. There's
nothing wrong about this gospel. I am so grateful for it. I am grateful for my
savior, for the Atonement, and how it empowers me to overcome anything. I can
have JOY because of my Savior. I can tell you I have never felt as much joy as
I do now being a missionary. It is amazing. It is true. And I will work with
every fiber of my being to help others have the same joy that I feel right now.
:) Ok I gotta go before I start to cry haha :) I love you all and miss you like
crazy! but guess what?! My "hump day" (halfway mark) is in 8 days! I
really don't like that at all...not that I don't love you but I would be a
missionary forever if they would let me!!! :) haha I can't believe I'm almost
halfway done. It's gone WAY too fast! But anyways that is all! :) haha LOVE
YOU!
Love Always,
Sister Wilkins
:)
