Week 4

Hello Family! I enjoyed the e-mails you sent me they made me chuckle :) I am doing awesomely! I absolutely LOVE Steilacoom! My ward is amazing! I get hugs from everyone and their dog! Literally because everyone in WA has a dog. (sometimes a cat) Yesterday we had stake conference which was AWESOME! and a lady sitting in front of me had a little min-pin that reminded me of missy. Yes in the chapel she had a dog..and was holding it like a baby. I thought people in UT were crazy....you should just come to WA because man there's some weirdos but I love them!!! haha they help me have a good laugh! :) Sooooo...this past week has been super great! On Tuesday we were tracting and I saw the most psycho looking cat ever seen! It was like poofy but matted and had dreds and it was gross and it's eyes were evil! We are not going back to that house. It was funny because that day was so nice and we were on this really pretty street and I was taking in the beauty of it all and then I saw psycho cat and it ruined it. haha! Speaking of psycho...my companion might be mentally unstable. Haha not really she's super awesome but she likes to talk/pray/walk/laugh in her sleep! So my nights are pretty entertaining! Like Saturday night she started talking in her sleep and then she got up and got on her knees and started praying...then like ten minutes later she got up and went back to sleep. So Sunday morning I asked her what she was doing and she didn't remember any of it! I was laughing really hard! :) Then last night we had "p-day eve" so we stayed up kinda late talking, next thing I know she is laughing hysterically so I ask her what's so funny and tell her she's psycho and then I realized she was laughing in her sleep for like 5 minutes straight. haha so my nights are fun filled and entertaining :) On Thursday I got to ride the ferry out to Anderson Island! It's SOOOOOO pretty out there! I love the trees! I was like a child on the first day of school when I got on the ferry haha I thought it was cool and I also was hoping we wouldn't die and get eaten by whales! When we got there one of the sisters picked us up and took us to the community center! A bunch of ladies meet there every Thursday and do crafts, and most of them aren't members! So we get to go and do little crafties and hang out with them! although we're not allowed to teach we get to be examples and have fun with them! I learned how to crochet and I am starting a cute wittle blue penguin! He's just a little circle right now but soon he will be a full pengiono! :) We also get to have lunch there and eat their amazing cooked meals! I have tried lots of new stuff out here! so far i've liked it! We are also teaching someone on the island! She's an excommunicated member trying to come back, so we get to teach her the lessons. She's SO funny her name is J. and I love her to death! She's really smart! :) Oh p.s. If I use big words it's because Sister Hall is an english major and I am expanding my vocabulary! :) Anyways she took us back to the ferry after our lesson with her and we went back over to Steilacoom and had 2 more lessons that day. We have 8 progressing investigators right now! It keeps us pretty busy :) But that night we taught a lesson to M. and D. M. is 54 and his son D. just turned 16 yesterday. M. is very intelligent and has a lot of faith, and he is getting BAPTIZED!!!!! this Saturday (23rd) Yay! So that's awesome :) I got here to teach him the second lesson and on so I've gotten to know him pretty well. He reminds me of Uncle Mark Wilkins because he's super sarcastic with me. And he's way nice he cooks us yummy meals all the time. He quit smoking cold turkey on the 15th and he's been doing good! It's so amazing to see what faith and the spirit can do! So I am waaaaaaaaaaay excited for saturday! Another lady in our ward is also getting baptized! That's a long story but she was excommunicated and is coming back! She also has 70 pets! all but 5 are in a fish tank! but man people are crazy about animals here! Alright it's time to tell you about the highlight of my week! The 11 from Heaven! We went to their house on Friday! and when we got there all the girls came out in their matching personally hand sewn dresses and smothered us with hugs! Then we went in and all the little kids drew us pictures so they gave us those! They are SO cute! Then we had the lesson and the kids were very polite and quiet and these kids range from age 2-17 so they're all pretty little! But they took the lesson really well! Then after the lesson we got to have a "tea party" with the 4 oldest girls and the mom. Their grandmother painted all sorts of tea sets for them and they also collect some so they have a bunch of them and have different themes for every party and it was like 5 courses my favorite was we had a cup full of berries and then we poured cream mixed with vanilla over them and oh my goodness! It was the most amazing thing i've ever tasted! The girls also sang us songs! they have really beautiful voices! As we were leaving they gave us a gift bag with jewelry that the girls made and books and a cd. Holy crap i've never been more welcomed and showered with love in my life. I am in love with this family! haha They're pretty great! It's scary to teach a family that seems so well put together and then we tell them that their life could be better haha but they receive us very well. The reason why it's not scary is because when they tell us about what they believe you can tell they don't have the fullness of the gospel. And that's so sad!!! We get to go back this friday and teach them lesson 3! :) This week has been sooooooooo great! On Saturday our little 17 yr old investigator C. took us to Baskin Robbins and we taught her lesson 3. She is so intelligent and has so much faith and we know she is prepared but she told us she won't be ready for baptism till next december! HA! so we're working on that :) In my ward there's a little deaf girl she's adorable! her name is Pohai and she loves me because I am the only missionary that can talk to her!!! I win :) hahaha But I love her! Yesterday we had stake conference and it was SO amazing! in the morning we had a recent convert and investigator meeting and Oh my goodness the spirit was SO strong. President Marchant our stake pres. Got up and bore his testimony and then let the RC bear their testimonies. It was so powerful and the spirit filled the room. It really helped our investigators build their testimony. We had an investigator who we haven't been able to get progressing because he's an alchoholic come! and he wants to meet with us again!!! :) Then during stake conference I cried like a baby! The stake president spoke and cried and president weaver (mission pres) cried and then he had certain people from the congregation come up and bear their testimonies. And it was amazing. Most people in our stake are converts. It's really amazing to hear their testimonies. And it really helps our investigators! yesterday was SUCH a good day! I loved it :) But that's my wonderful week! I hope all of you are splendid  :) thanks for all of your love and support! It means LOTS!!! :) You can still use dear elder to send me letters if you want! It's really good and awesome to get letters during the week cuz they are BIG boosters and keep us missionaries going and happy (along with other things) I am VERY well taken care of by the ward and the ward mission leader so there is absolutely no reason to worry about me! :) I am going to develop pictures today hopefully so I will send you some soon!!!! To sum it up---I love everything about my mission, the leaders, the ward, the climate, the trees, the moss, my companion, like literally everything!!! :) I am about to get booted off the computer but I am sending LOTS of love and I miss you all and pray for you all the time! Thank you for your letters and support. I am so grateful I am on a mission. I am so glad my Heavenly Father trusts me enough to teach His children! I would type more but i'm running out of time! AHHH!!! LOVE YOUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Love Sister Brittany Ann Wilkins!
P.s. One important lesson I've learned is to LOVE! have Charity in all things! and also faith is SOOOO important "Go thy way thy FAITH had made thee WHOLE!!!" :) stay happy be positive and have Faith and Charity in all things!!! :)

Ok so i logged back on since my comp isn't done and I have to tell you about my st patricks day dinner! We had green eggs with green milk and green potatoes and green grapes and kiwi and ended it with shamrock shakes! Then M. made us corn beef and cabbage because it's apparently a thing for st pattys day? who knew? anywho I am off to write some letters since some of my friends love me! :) haha Love you!

Her letter from this week:

Hello! So much to tell you...I tried to call the rest of the family after I got off the phone with you but my phone card money had ran out and it was time to leave...bummer! But got into Washington and was thinking "what the crap am I doing?!" I kind of had a freak out moment and that morning was emotional because I had to say goodbye to sister O'connor who has become one of my dearest and closest friends. I love her so much!!! She is in south Ogden right now so if anyone goes there and sees her please give her a great big hug for me!!! :)  Anyways then I got to talk to you and then I get on a plane which was scary but I was between 5 other elders so I felt safe. Then I get to Washington and off the plane and start thinking...what did I get myself into? haha So I met president and sister weaver! They are such wonderful people! I love them lots! (oh ps you really need to look on the mission blog! sis weaver has posted pics of me.) I am here safe and sound! But then we went to the church and had lunch and such and then I met my companion!  Her name is sister Hall! From kaysville UT and she is amazing! She has only been out here  5 weeks :P So she killed a missionary and gave birth to one 5 weeks into her mission (if you don't understand the mission lango ask matt) she's 20 like me but younger and litterally is the best! I dunno how she is so amazing but she is. We get along really well and have fun! The worst thing so far about being a missionary is tracting. oh how i despise it, I'm sure one day I will learn to love it...but walking in the cold rain and getting doors slammed in our faces from 5-7 every day is not my idea of fun :) But as I said I have an amazing companion and she tries really hard to make it fun for me! :) after I met my companion we had a meeting for the killed and born missionaries and then my companion and I went and taught 2 lessons! we have 8 progressing investigators right now. Next week I get to meet the "11 from heaven" which is a 13 piece family that we are teaching! CRAZY! But the work is good :) I am having so much fun and learning A TON and improving a ton.  I have learned over and over here that The Lord knows what we need. I need Sister Hall as my trainer haha. OH! some exciting things: I met Sheri Dew! she's super nice and awesome! And in a couple weeks I get to meet Janice Kapp Perry :) You're jealous i know :) haha oh the girls that I came out with (sisters bayles scott and ryser) sang come thou fount in a missionary meeting the other day and it was scary but went really good! This is a singing mission! Oh funny story: I got pranked last night. My companion told me we were going to a referals house so we knock on the door she invites us inside and says her husband works early so he was sleeping so we had to be quiet. So we start talking to her and he comes out screaming and yelling so I grab my shoes and get out. When I turned around I found them all on the floor laughing. I was so confused but now I know the Betts they are members in our ward. Haha it was a pretty funny way to end a sunday. The ward is awesome! sorry if this is scattered and what not but as you know I have NO TIME! anyways i'm doing great and I love and miss you and pray for you! I know that this church is so true It makes sense. I know I can rely on my Heavenly Father and He knows what I need. I am standing in His place and doing the best I can and I know that He loves me and you more than we can imagine. I love you!
Love
Sister Wilkins
