Hello
Family!
Sorry it's late my
zone got to do a service project this morning and we just got done, so yay! :)
Well I can honestly tell you I’ve been getting really excited to be able to
talk to you on Christmas :) My tummy gets butterflies every time I think about
it! I'm excited!!! And holy cow! That package you sent!!!! THANK YOU SO
MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was amazing! So now if I look a little chubby over
Skype you'll know why :D haha well first of all we can't work out outside
because it's like 19 degrees out there and I'd rather not get sick! :) And
second of all I've eaten like a whole bag of cinnamon rolls already :) Thank
you so much!! Aghsdjkahfjksdhjkflhudiayrhjkweqhnrjdsghf I'm so spoiled! :) haha
I love you guys! :)
I have a Christmas present in mind for ya'll
hopefully I can get it sent by the time Christmas comes around :) It's awesome
though! and I’m planning something else too....we are hoping to get it done
today but since we spent a lot of time at the service project I’m not sure we'll
have time. :) We are also having some sisters staying at our apartment tonight
because there's supposed to be a little storm so the people far away from
Tacoma are coming to stay in our apartments so they can come to the Christmas
party tomorrow :) It's a big deal! I’m SO excited! :) I can't even express
it!!!!
ok ok I will tell you
about my week this week :) it was another one of those weeks haha it's been so
freezing that no one really wants to talk to us. So not a TON happened but it
was still a good week :) So Tuesday Sister Davis came on an exchange with me to
Chambers Creek :) I love Sister Davis so much! She doesn't get along with
everyone but somehow we get along! So that's good! :) haha It was an
interesting day, it's hard to do exchanges in your own area...haha especially
on a Tuesday when nobody is home! But it was a good day all around :) Sister
Davis and I have fun. She came out the transfer before me! and she's from Utah!
Yay! I learned a lot from her, but mostly she just endures everything..she puts
up with a lot of pain every day, and she just goes and goes. She never ceases
to amaze me. She's been through a lot and I really do look up to her for how
much she has changed and grown on her mission! So I really enjoyed the exchange
:) haha I usually do anyways! And you were right :)
Tuesday night I was
eating a cinnamon roll! :D On Wednesday we had a really cool district meeting.
The topic was "revelation through church attendance" and our
wonderful district leader Elder Hughs came up with a genius idea and we did a
mach sacrament meeting as a role play type thing. So he had me give a
talk...YAY!!! :) haha it was on President monson's talk from the relief society
broadcast "We never walk alone" it's a way good talk you should read
it!
It was really
interesting to be able to give a talk on it because I was always kind of a
negative nelly about the past and getting bullied at school and such and I was
not very happy about it. But Sister Packard gave me the challenge to find God
in my past. And It took a while, but I have stood aside and found that God has
been there through everything. So this talk really hit close to my heart! It
was cool to be able to give the talk...I learned a lot about how investigators
think about things while they're in church and how sometimes the people talking
should think about how they're might be people there who don't understand what
they're saying :) haha but it was good! :)
Thursday was my least
favorite day! IT WAS FREEZING and it was park day! I thought I was going to die
:) haha jk I’m a baby. But I’m telling you the cold in WA is different from the
cold in Utah because Utah is a dry cold, here you put on a million layers and
it's still freezing! haha but alas all is well! So we went through the day and
I try to block most of the day out of my mind because it was painful and cold
:D haha but I SAW TIERRA!!!! oh my goodness I was SO happy! :) We were walking
and one of the Recent Converts from Steilacoom was driving and I got to talk to
her for a second! But It made my heart a puddle! I love that girl! :) But that
night we got to go to a relief society dinner and spend some time with the
sweet ladies in our ward :) It was nice! and then Sister Gessel the sweetest
lady ever gave us a ride home! and ok, sister Chipman's mom is a very extremely
crafty lady and she sent us this advent calendar so we get to open a present
every day and on park day she sent the most comfy socks in the entire world!!!
:) It made my life! It was awesome :)
Friday we had MLC
again! It was SO good! I love MLC we get to be with a bunch of awesome
missionaries and talk about the awesome gospel! :) haha I love president and
sister weaver more than you could ever know!!! haha first of all Sister weaver
went and bought hot chocolate for all of us and it was delicious! and they're
testimonies are just amazing! I love them so much! :) They just motivate us so
much to be able to be better missionaries and reach higher! they have helped me
gain a greater testimony! :)
Now I have to tell you about Anthony!! holy cow
this guy is unreal!!!! SO Sister Packard and I found Anthony and he told us he
was raised catholic but was an atheist and somehow we talked him into having a
church tour and coming to church. So the week before Packard left me he came to
church and he kept coming every week, he's an electrician out on vashon island
and so we couldn't meet with him at first he was working like 13 hour days and
it was hard for him. But we started teaching him and in the past 3 weeks he's
been able to receive all the lessons at a member’s house! On Friday we got to
take him to the Stake center because they had this thing called the festival of
the nativity and it was AWESOME!!! :) look it up online or something :) haha at
the church they had like a bagillion nativities all over the gym and they had a
room completely dedicated to the savior and they had pictures of his life in
chronological order and it was my favorite! so cool! :) I wish you could've
seen it! I guess you'll have to come with me next year?! haha :) So Anthony comes
with us to that and then we had a lesson with him at the hartzle's house about
the word of wisdom cuz we knew he smoked and he's on date for the 14th! So we
talked to him about it and it's just the coolest thing, all the lessons we've
had with him have been so spiritual! He said he was going to try giving up
smoking and coffee. Then he comes to church on Sunday and then goes to the
stake center with us for the Christmas Devotional and he said that he had
already given up smoking and coffee and was totally fine!!! it was a miracle!
He believes in God! He believes in Joseph Smith! even though he was an atheist
like 7 weeks ago... all I have to say is that the church is true :) So he's
getting baptized this Saturday!!!! YAY!!!! it's going to be a white Christmas!
:D I'm so excited for him! It's crazy how close you get to these people and
truly are concerned for their well-being :)
Saturday is also our
ward Christmas party and transfer calls! I feel like I’m going to stay...but
you never know...things happen! haha we'll have to see. :) This morning we got
to go clean up after the Festival of the nativity. It took 4 hours!!! :) but it
was fun to hang out with every one :) Like I said not a whole lot happened this
week. But I am just so excited for this wonderful Christmas season! I have been
thinking a lot about how we need to focus on our relationship with Christ
instead of the commercialism of it all. I have been passing out pictures of
Christ all day every day because I think that sometimes in this month where we
commemorate His birth we sometimes forget about Him. but He is the reason for
the season!!! :)
So don't forget about
Him! :) I am so grateful for His birth. Without it none of us could experience
happiness. Christ is everything. And we should be more than grateful to Him for
what He did for us. I feel extremely humbled that someone loved me so much that
He came down to this earth to suffer and die for me. If you didn't get a chance
to see the Christmas devotional, go watch it now! Get in the spirit of
Christmas! tis the season to be jolly!!!! :) So something pretty crazy....I
went through the temple a year ago yesterday! Didn't that go so fast?! I am
just so grateful I get to be on a mission! It is the greatest thing of my
entire life! I couldn't ask for a better blessing than getting to be a
missionary especially at Christmas time! :) Being a missionary is not a
sacrifice, it's a blessing!!! For some reason the other night I was thinking
about what I would say in my talk when I get home. And all I can say is that my
I'll never be the same! I can't express what's in my heart, but I have been
changed forever. I love it! Well I will talk to you soon! I love y'all so
much!!!! :) I hope you have a great week! :) Remember to Remember Him!
Love always
Sister Wilkins :)
Wonderful socks from sister Chipman's mom and it just so happened that we got them on park day! :) Tender Mercy! |
