Hello
Family!
Well, not a whole ton
happened this week, a lot of our investigators are now recent converts! haha
But we are still working with some amazing people that we're way excited about
:) You already know about Monday, but Tuesday after emailing we had a meet
and greet at the church :) Daja came by herself! this is a 9 year old! haha
members give her rides, but she is so brave and so cute and outgoing. If that
ever happened to me as a 9 year old, I would have just sat there and been shy
but not Daja! she's hilarious! :) I love her :) Then we went over to her house
and taught her and her mom Nicole the first part of the plan of salvation! They
loved it! Daja was on sugar and kept asking so many questions and talking a ton
haha I love it! :) Wednesday we had district meeting as always, we taught a few
lessons but people are just set in their own ways sometimes, but that night we
taught our investigator Faith. Faith was given to us as a referral from the Spanish
elders, we went over there and taught her about the BOM and stuff and she came
to church once, but we had not been able to teach her because she's busy a lot.
She's a personal assistant, and a housekeeper so she's constantly working! But
we finally got to go over to teach her! And we started with how God is our
loving Heavenly Father. Well, that's all we taught her about because she
doesn't really know if God is our loving Heavenly Father. She has been through
a lot in her life and she wonders why God hasn't changed her circumstances.
Which we told her that He can't change circumstances, He can only change us,
but she is searching very hard. She has a desire to believe! :) It was so
interesting, this 40 day fast thing really works, I feel like I have felt the
spirit more. As she was crying telling us about her trials I just began to have
the deepest love for her. It was very sweet. We talked to her about how to grow
your faith, this is why I love the BOM because there's people in there that
felt the same way Faith feels in Alma 32. The Book of Mormon is for us! :) And
at the end she said I just want to have the light in me that you guys have in
you! And we promised her that if she kept her commitments that she would. :) On
Thursday we did weekly planning and went to the Nursing home! :) It was my
last time at the Nursing home and I was so sad! :/ But we sang to them and I
just bore my testimony, they were all sad that I was leaving, but I told them I
would come back to visit. :) That night we got to go back to Daja and Nicole's
and teach them the rest of the plan of salvation! They LOVED IT! :) Nicole
likes to say "Celestial" haha they both always take notes during our
"bible studies" and they are just so prepared! After teaching the
plan, we put both of them on date for the 2nd! yes! the day of the super bowl!
Oh my goodness side note, I am now a fan of the Seahawks. :) cuz I’m sure if I
wasn't I would be shunned out of Washington! :) haha but anyways, that day is
going to be INSANE!!! I don't think President will have us go knocking, but
we'll see! It's pretty fun though to have the Seahawks going to the superbowl.
:) I am excited! Because if they win, everyone will be in a good mood and then
we can baptize them all! haha jk jk :) but they will be in a good mood! :) It's
so funny, we knock on doors during football games and their like "don't
you know the Seahawks are playing right now?!" and I’m like "don't
you read the bible? "no other gods before me!"" :) bahaha
anyways it's crazy out here everyone is decked out for the Seahawks! :) anyways
after we put them on date we told Nicole she had to stop smoking to get
baptized, and she was SO willing! she was like "oh that's perfect I only
have one left, this is a sign from God!" haha so we're hoping that she's
doing ok with that! :) I Love them both SO much though! I am hoping and praying
that I can see them be baptized before I leave!!!!! That would make my life
because I love them SO much! :) Friday was an eventful day :) We had
Interviews with President weaver in the morning. Ok, I know that I always tell
you I love him, but I really do! :) haha I went in there and we said a
prayer, and the first thing he says is "so in your prayer you said you
wanted to know how you can be better, so how can you be better?" haha and
I was like NO that's the question I was going to ask you!!! :) haha so I
thought for a second and I told him that I just really want to have more
passion and enthusiasm for the gospel every day...and he told me about how I
just need to pray about it and basically "fake it til you make it"
kind of a thing. :) haha so that's what I’m working on. then he asked me what I
needed to do better as a missionary and I didn't really know haha so we went
through the day and he asked me if I was obedient with everything and went about
doing good which I do and he was like "well there you go" haha! No
help! :) but that's ok I found some things I want to work on :) then I told him
about the 40 day fast thing and how I sometimes get overwhelmed with all the
things I want to work on that I just give up on a few haha and he told me about
2 Nephi 2:21 that talks about how the days of the children of men
were prolonged so that they could repent. And he said to take one or two things
and work on them for a few weeks and then maintain that but work on something
else. So that's good advice :) haha then we talked about how we are one of the
"noble and great ones" and basically just told me he loved me and
that he was proud of me...but then I asked him how I can prepare for transfer
calls. And he told me I am leaving Chambers Creek and I started crying! haha
(even though I already knew) and then he started crying with me. And told me if
I never would have left Steilacoom I never would have found these amazing
people to love in chambers creek. And that my love for them will always be
there. Then he said something that is in my patriarchal blessing! CHURCH IS
TRUE! :) haha But he told me to look forward with a positive attitude and then
he said with tears running down his face "tomorrow, when I stand in front
of the transfer board, and pray about you personally, and I promise you that I
will make sure that what happens will be what is best for you." So that
gave me some peace about transfers. I am actually kind of excited. I am going
to absolutely HATE leaving these wonderful people whom I love so much! But I am
ready to find more people to love. I'm convinced I'm moving far away from
Tacoma and that Sister Esplin will be my companion. I'm probably completely
off...but that's my guess :) haha I guess we'll find out on Saturday! :)
But I just feel at peace about it. I trust in God. I am grateful for your
support and love and prayers though :) I can feel them! :) Chambers Creek will
always hold such a special place in my heart. And you guys HAVE to come back
and visit with me! You need to meet these people! And see for yourself how
amazing they really are! :) After Interviews we drove to Mountain View! And I
got to stay there with Sister Cassell and Sister Chipman went to Chambers Creek
with Sister Packard and Sister Wilkinson. :) It was such a fun exchange! I
absolutely LOVE sister Cassell! We are so alike in a lot of ways and it was
just fun :) haha The highlights of the exchange were:
-Hearing about all the
progress with the recent converts and investigators, I’ve been on an exchange
to mt. view 3 times now! So I know a lot of the people there :) and it makes my
heart a puddle to hear about those who are doing good! :)
-Seeing Toni and
Aaron, they are recent converts and they are SO sweet! I feel the spirit so
strongly in their home, and last time when I was there with Sister Packard they
took a picture of us and I made it on their missionary wall! :) They are the
most loving people in the world! :)
-I felt enthusiastic!
haha Cassell and I just have a lot of fun! I went on an exchange with her back
in October as well and we had a lot of fun, but it was very cool to see the way
she has grown!
- I watched an old
lady with no teeth full on make out with her dog....gross...and then she proceeded
to tell us about the voices that she hears. (oh the wonderful people you find
in Tacoma :) )
-I got a full face
lick from a giant dog.
haha so yes, it was
pretty darn fun :) It was good for me, because I felt a lot of love for those
people that we went and saw that day, and it made me feel even more ready for
transfers because I love people so much. :) Then Saturday we went
back to Chambers and I find out that Packard's brother Spencer was in WA! she
was freaking out! haha and so excited! So we went over to the Pryor's and met
her brother Spencer, cousin Kara, and 2 of her friends Carson and Isaac. And
Terrance, Juan, Jon and Kyle came too! It was very fun! They had a little jam
session and Jon Cooper played the drums, and Spencer played the guitar and they
just picked it up out of nowhere! It was amazing! :) The Packard family is
extremely talented! :) It's insane! haha I loved it so much! :) we also that
night went and taught Anthony and he is doing so good! He sent his records over
to the YSA ward :( and he gave a talk yesterday! He is just movin on up! haha
I'm so proud of him! JOY! :) I can't describe it any other way. Sunday was
a good day, Terrance finally came to church! He hadn't been in a month, and we
tried. But I knew Packard could get him there, so that's part of the reason why
she came here :) haha but he came! and he was happy! I haven't seen him smile
like that in a while! :) I Love Terrance so much! :) I just hope that he can
stay happy. Daja and Nicole also came to church! Daja had already come twice but
it was Nicole's first time and she loved it! she was taking notes and everyone
said hello and it was so good! :) we are going over there tonight too and I’m
way excited! :) That night we finally got to teach the Rodney family again!
(the 9 piece family aka 7 from heaven :) ) I love that family so much!
haha I feel at home there :) and they're a lot of fun :) They are still wanting
to learn more, but I have a feeling they will become strong members of this
church! YAY!!! :) Other than that we just did the usual "going about doing
good" :) haha This week I have been working on Meekness. I've got the
boldness down, but now I’m working on the meekness part :) haha Hey what can I
say? sister hall trained me! She's the boldest missionary I know! :) She's also
a great example of meekness though, I love this talk from last conference
:)
I think a lot of us in
this world need to work on meekness :) haha So I just thought it was a good
talk :) I just want to end with my testimony. I know that my Savior suffered
and died for me, and for all of you. I know that Joseph smith was a prophet and
that Thomas S Monson is a prophet of God today. I know that The Church Of Jesus
Christ Of Latter-Day Saints is the Lord's kingdom on the earth today. It's
true. every part of it. Last night we knocked on a door and a lady stepped out
and told us all about how her dad used to be a Mormon and then he read all
these books and blah blah blah, don't look beyond the mark. Because in the end,
this is God's way. I know that we can become more like Christ by reading and
applying the things in the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I love being a
missionary! I will be forever grateful for this opportunity to grow and to love
the people here in Washington. I will never be the same. I love you all and
hope you have a blessed and wonderful week! :)
